Tasting Colefax Chocolates

To fully enjoy our chocolates please taste them at room temperature. Water is the preferred beverage when tasting chocolate as it does not interfere with the flavour.

Follow these tips to maximise your Colefax Chocolate experience….

Preserving and Storing Colefax Chocolates

Colefax Chocolates are best stored in a cool, dry environment at an ideal temperature of between 15 and 19 degrees Celsius, and relative humidity of below 50%.

To fully enjoy our chocolates please taste them at room temperature. Water is the preferred beverage when tasting the chocolates as it does not interfere with their flavour.

Storage should be away from intense light and away from strong odours such as citrus or perfumed products. Any chocolate should be removed from sealed polystyrene (foam) delivery containers which can transfer their strong odour to the chocolate through osmosis.

Your storage area should be clean and with good air flow. Chocolates are also a favourite of all vermin and nut products in particular can attract moth larvae.

We do not recommend refrigeration of our chocolates due to their sensitivity to extreme changes in temperature. However if you must, place your chocolates in an airtight container and cover with a tea towel or the like. On removal from the refrigerator, place the container and covering on a bench for some time to allow the chocolates to return to room temperature slowly. If you can wait, please allow at least one hour for this process.

Couverture chocolate, the type only ever used by Colefax Chocolates, is less robust than many commercially available industrial chocolates and therefore needs a little extra love and attention. By doing so, you will prolong the life of your purchase and ensure they taste just as great as they did when produced.

“… I have always said, the best place to store your chocolates is about 40 cm below your mouth.”
